The use of telemedicine significantly enhances competence and skills for responders on site. This enables patients to receive the best possible medical care under given circumstances and a more informed decision can be made as to whether an evacuation is necessary or the patient can remain on site.

Where we use Telemedicine

Telemedicine for First Responders

First responders in the North and Baltic Sea use telemedicine, as required by the DGUV, to decide about the necessity of evacuation in acute medical situations.

Permanent support for extended first aid measures during emergencies
Monitoring and optimization measures, particularly for airway management and bleeding
Psychological support for first responders until they can hand over their patients to external rescue teams

Telemedicine for Medical Professionals

Our offshore paramedics are connected to telemedicine to offer and provide a wide range of treatment options.

Expert advice ables a second opinion to help avoid unnecessary evacuations
Legally approved potent medication for general healthcare
Assistance for severely injured patients or those whose transport to land is not possible

Telemedicine Device in Use

We rely on the Corpuls System, a market leader for German emergency services. These devices are specially adjusted for first responders. Reasons for this choice:

State- of-the-art diagnostics (ECG, pulse oximetry, automatic blood pressure measurement, temperature monitoring, SpCO, Capnometry)
Feedback sensor for monitoring the quality of chest compression

Telemedicine Center in Oldenburg

We have partnered with Klinikum Oldenburg since 2014 to ensure telemedicine support in the North and Baltic Seas for following reasons:

  • Maximum medical care provider
  • Part of the university clinic for anesthesiology/intensive care/emergency medicine/pain therapy, with its own medical management
  • All other university departments are directly associated
  • Incoming vital data from the patient, such as the resting ECG, are processed and documented synchronously with the audio and video connections
  • Secure communication in both English and German
  • Proof of compulsory further training in accordance with the requirements of the State Medical Association
