Ready for any emergency!
In addition to the emergencies known in the regular rescue service, our offshore emergency paramedics also accompany complex rescues and first aid in confined spaces as well as from depths and heights. The special circumstances and unpredictable weather conditions lead to complex injury patterns and rescue scenarios, which are trained accordingly on a regular basis. Our offshore emergency paramedics complete more than 50 hours of medical training every year and are available 24/7 in the German offshore sector. Find out more about our training to become an offshore emergency paramedic at our Johanniter Offshore Campus.

Healthcare on the high seas
Our offshore emergency paramedics are not only available for medical emergencies - we also provide general medical care. Our equipment makes it possible to treat everyday complaints of people working offshore. The aim is to avoid medical evacuations on land. Johanniter Offshore emergency paramedics use telemedicine for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment, especially for illnesses and injuries that are not time-critical. The well-being of all offshore employees is our top priority!

Insight into the Team Offshore Projects
Our offshore emergency paramedics ensure medical care tailored to the conditions on offshore wind farms, ships and platforms in the North and Baltic Seas. We specialize in the “stand-alone” care of emergency patients until they are handed over to offshore air rescue.

State-of-the-art equipment
Equipped with the most modern medical devices and equipment, our team offers care that goes beyond the standard emergency service - we guarantee professional patient treatment even under the most difficult conditions.

For You in Service Since 2014
As the market leader in this area, our T.O.P. (Team Offshore Projects) has been providing emergency medical care for the staff in the offshore wind farms, some of which are located over 100 km from the mainland, as well as for their structures and accompanying ships in the North and Baltic Sea since 2014. The operational situation here is particularly challenging, as complex work under difficult conditions characterizes everyday life. The emergency paramedics who work theret, usually work as “stand-alone medics” and are supported by specially trained first aiders.
Tasks of Offshore Rescue Personnel
The offshore rescue teams from the JUH Stedingen local association are responsible for emergency medical care, specialized in rescues from confined spaces, heights, and depths, as well as intensive care for the injured. Their services are extended to standard emergency medical response times onshore. On-site medical support is dependent on air-and water transport. The rescue teams provide assistance for a range of medical care, from mild illnesses and telemedicine diagnostics to life-threatening injuries and challenging rescue scenarios.
Another crucial part of their work involves general medical care for employees with physical and mental health issues, covering acute and long-term care as well as basic preventive measures until assistance or evacuation can be carried out.
Typically, air rescue arrives within 60 minutes. However, unfavorable weather conditions can lead to longterm care. In extreme cases, when air or water-based evacuation is not possible, it may be necessary to bridge several hours to days, before the patient can be sent to emergency medical care or a hospital.
In addition to these medical responsibilities, our rescue teams are involved in various other duties such as hygiene inspections, water quality checks, safety training, on-site first aid training, organization of rescue drills, and other administrative tasks.

Team Equipment
The equipment for our staff includes more than 3,000 individual items, over 100 medications, various emergency backpacks, immobilization materials, tools for outpatient care, and electrical medical devices (e.g., turbine-powered ventilators, syringe pumps, suction devices, video laryngoscopes, electronic stethoscopes, and heated vacuum mattresses). The medical equipment in the on-board hospital exceeds DIN EN 1789 Type C and therefore exceeds the equipment of an ambulance. With modern point-of-care testing, we are able to test a variety of illnesses. For example bloodtests for signs of a heart attack, directly on-site. A modern telemedicine device featuring a 12-lead ECG and many other functions is also part of the equipment.
Additionally, our staff is equipped with materials for technical rescues from heights and depths, in combination with personal protective equipment.
